I’m soooo excited to share with you another home decor project! Some of you might have caught glimpses of the project on my Instagram. I moved into my unfinished home a few years ago and there were a lot of things that needed to be done. Unfortunately, home decor was last on the list because we had to work on our kitchen and get the house functioning first before we could think about decorating it.
Luckily, within this past year, we’ve completed a bunch of home projects. You can check out my previous posts on the walk-in closet here and the Parisian inspired vanity project here.

Currently, we only have a few rooms left to furnish but this spare bedroom is now complete! The inspirations behind this bedroom were drawn from my trips to Morocco and Bali. I wanted it to feel a little bit bohemian, a little bit vintage, and a lot of fresh airy vibe.
With that said, I was really careful not to go overboard with the furnishing because the key to home decor is understanding how to strike the right balance so that space looks welcoming—not cluttered. Ok, let’s get to it! Here are some of the things I incorporated into this bohemian-inspired room.
Wall Decor
Wall decor was the most challenging part for me as the options were endless! Initially, I wanted to hang a bunch of frames over the bed but decided to keep it simple and be cost conscious as well. That made me think of the straw bags and hats that I have, and what a great way it would be to have them up on display! Surprisingly, these accessories add such a great natural aesthetic to the room!

Wood Accent
Wood accents bring beauty, charm, and character to their surroundings. I feel like wood connects the space to nature. Thus, I made sure that the room has at least one piece of wood furniture. I found this Indonesian bamboo wood chest at Homegoods for $99, a total score! The chest is small enough to be used as a nightstand but big enough to be used as an accent piece.

Rattan Storage Baskets
Rattan baskets are a great way to keep tidy and they also serve as pretty decorative pieces. To create visual interest, I placed them at the end of the bed. It’s the perfect area for storage as well!
…
Indoor Plants
One of my favorite home decors is indoor plants. I love how they make a huge difference visually. These plants add color, shape, and life to a room that you can’t really get with other decors. They are super versatile and are great for last-minute styling details. To pretty them up, I placed them inside wicker baskets (yes, I’m a little obsessed with wicker baskets but they’re just so nice!).
A Full-Length Mirror
As you can see from the photos, the room isn’t big. Therefore, to make it feel brighter and bigger, I used a full-length mirror to create the illusion of more space. Not to mention, it adds a really nice decorative touch! Leaning the mirror against the wall gives the room a more casual vibe. Plus, I have a fear of commitment, I didn’t want to have such a large mirror sitting on the wall permanently— just in case I change my mind!

Accent Rugs and Pillows
Accent rugs are a great way to pull any room together. This bedroom has dark hardwood floor so, in order to create contrast, I opted for ivory rugs with tribal geometric designs to keep with the Moroccan theme. And, last but not least, for the finishing touch, I threw in a few textured pillows to complete the look.

There you have it! This bedroom makeover project was so much fun! The best part is seeing the transformation. It’s crazy how home decor makes such a huge difference and can bring any empty space to life. I hope you guys were able to get some inspiration from this post.
