This season I am drawing inspiration from the saturated colors and bold prints of the ’70’s. Instead of copying a look from the past, I incorporated my modern day wardrobe for a more contemporary look. With a little inspiration from the past, all you need to know is how to rework those time-tested trends to fit perfectly into your wardrobe.
THE BOLD PRINTS
As soon as I saw this Topshop dress, I instantly thought “old school retro vibe”. The low cut in the back gives it a very modern feel while the bold colorful prints have the 1970s written all over it. To balance this look with a more modern feel, I paired it with patent ankle boots and the trendy Cult Gaia bag.
What’s great about the 1970’s fashion is that a lot of these styles are still wearable today, you just need to find a trend that suits your personal style. Draw inspirations from the era but not copy it or you’ll appear outdated. Try incorporating things you already have such accessories or shoes to create a modern interpretation of 70’s fashion.
